Synopsis:
Spartacus: House of Ashur is a historical drama that imagines a different ending to the original Spartacus story. In this version, Ashur, the clever and ruthless villain, survives and helps the Romans defeat Spartacus and stop the slave rebellion. As a reward, he is given ownership of the famous gladiator school once run by the House of Batiatus. Ashur rises from a slave to a powerful and wealthy Dominus, but his new position is far from secure. Many Romans still look down on him because of his Syrian background, and he must fight to earn respect and protect his power in a brutal political world.
The series follows Ashur as he navigates Roman politics, betrayal, and ambition. To strengthen his status, he introduces a shocking new attraction to the arena—Achillia, the world’s first female gladiator. Season 1, which premiered on December 5, 2025, shows Ashur struggling to keep control while facing enemies both inside and outside his house. Powerful figures like Marcus Crassus and a young Julius Caesar enter the story, raising the stakes even higher. The series is created and run by Steven S. DeKnight, with Nick E. Tarabay returning as Ashur, alongside Tenika Davis, Graham McTavish, Claudia Black, and Lucy Lawless in a special appearance.
