Synopsis:
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is an origin story set 64 years before the first Hunger Games movie. It follows a young Coriolanus Snow, long before he becomes the future president of Panem. The story takes place during the 10th Hunger Games, a time when the Capitol is still recovering from war and struggling to make the games interesting for the public. Snow is 18 years old and trying hard to save his family’s reputation, which has fallen apart after the war. He becomes the mentor of Lucy Gray Baird, the female tribute from District 12. When Lucy Gray surprises everyone by singing during the reaping, Snow uses his charm and intelligence to help her stand out and survive. As they grow closer, Snow faces a difficult choice between doing what is right and giving in to ambition and power—choices that shape the kind of man he will become.
The film is directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed earlier Hunger Games movies. The screenplay is written by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt, based on the book by Suzanne Collins. The main cast includes Tom Blyth as young Snow and Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray. Peter Dinklage plays Dean Highbottom, Jason Schwartzman appears as host Lucky Flickerman, and Hunter Schafer plays Tigris Snow. Viola Davis stars as the terrifying Head Gamemaker, Dr. Volumnia Gaul. The movie is produced by Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Francis Lawrence.
