Synopsis:
Westworld is a science-fiction drama set in a futuristic theme park where wealthy guests can live out their wildest fantasies. The park is filled with lifelike robots called “hosts,” who look and act like real humans. These hosts are programmed to follow stories set in the Old West, but they cannot hurt guests and do not remember past events. The story mainly follows Dolores Abernathy, a kind farm girl host, and Maeve Millay, a sharp and independent madam. As the park continues to reset the hosts after every story, some of them begin to remember their past lives. These memories slowly awaken their thoughts and emotions, making them question who they really are.
As the hosts gain awareness, chaos grows inside the park. The show also follows humans like park creator Dr. Robert Ford and executive Bernard Lowe, who control the technology behind Westworld. Themes like free will, identity, power, and the danger of advanced technology are explored deeply.
Westworld was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, based on a film by Michael Crichton. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy also served as writers and executive producers.
