Synopsis:
IT: Welcome to Derry is a chilling prequel set in the summer of 1962, decades before the events of the IT movies. The story begins when the Hanlon family moves to the small town of Derry, Maine, hoping for a fresh start. Soon after they arrive, a local child goes missing, signaling the return of an ancient evil. A group of young outsiders—including Lilly Bainbridge, Will Hanlon, and Ronnie Grogan—start investigating the strange events. Their search leads them to a terrifying shape-shifting creature that feeds on fear and hatred, known as Pennywise. As disappearances increase, the children realize that Derry itself is hiding dark secrets passed down through generations.
The series also explores Derry’s troubled past, including major events like the burning of the Black Spot nightclub. Alongside the children’s story, the show follows adults connected to a nearby Air Force base, such as Dick Hallorann and Leroy Hanlon, as they face racial tension and Cold War fear. Season 1 ended on December 14, 2025, with a dramatic confrontation that sets up future chapters in Derry’s cursed history. The series is developed and run by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, with Andy Muschietti directing key episodes. Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise, joined by Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Clara Stack, James Remar, and Madeleine Stowe, with music by Benjamin Wallfisch.
