Synopsis:
Obsession is a psychological horror film about love becoming dangerous and uncontrollable. The story follows Bear, played by Michael Johnston, a shy music store employee who has secretly loved his childhood friend and coworker Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, for years. Too scared to tell her how he feels, Bear buys a strange object called the “One Wish Willow,” which is rumored to grant a wish when broken. In a moment of frustration, he wishes for Nikki to love him more than anyone else. At first, everything feels perfect as Nikki suddenly becomes deeply attached to him, but her affection quickly turns obsessive and terrifying. What begins as a dream romance slowly becomes a nightmare filled with fear, violence, and deadly consequences.
The film is written and directed by Curry Barker, who is known for his popular online horror and comedy content. It is distributed by Focus Features. The cast also includes Cooper Tomlinson as Ian, Megan Lawless as Sarah, and Andy Richter as Carter. Mixing romance with supernatural horror, the movie explores how obsession, loneliness, and selfish desires can destroy lives.
