Synopsis:
The Zookeeper’s Wife is a British American war film set in Poland in 1939 when the Second World War was at its ruthless best. The film is based on a non fiction novel of the same name, the story is dramatized however. The story follows a couple who owns a zoo in Poland and who are very sympathetic towards their animals. The family resides within the premises of the zoo along with their son. Their lives are happy and content, until the Germans attack and change everything with their constant bombing and seizing of the city. The zoo gets destroyed for the most part and a few of their animals dies which distresses the family a lot. And worse thing, the city comes under the Nazi rules which were considered ruthless and heartless and the couple now have to report to a Reich minister regularly. The couple acts with courage as they keep their animals safe and at the same time, saves lives of dozens of people by hiding them inside the animal cages. The film deals with the themes of war and destruction and how love is the strongest force of nature.
